This exciting safari has been created to enable adventure seeking travelers in Uganda to have ample time with the most adorable wildlife creatures there is in the country.
Travelers on this safari will have the opportunity to explore Bwindi impenetrable National Park, the home of mountain gorillas and will also have the opportunity to experience the tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The experience of cruising along the waters of Kazinga channel will further unveil opportunities to observe a variety of animals and beautiful bird species. Another exciting activity on this safari will be chimpanzee trekking in the magnificent Kyambura gorge. The beautiful scenery at the gorge further makes visits to eat more rewarding.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park
You will be picked up from the hotel in Entebbe very early in the morning by a professional guide who will come along with a comfortable vehicle. Interact with the guide and later undertake the transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park.
The overall journey to Bwindi will take you approximately 10 hours and 33 minutes covering 501 kilometers. There will be a lunch stopover in Mbarara where you will get served delicious local meals.
After the meals, continue with the journey to Bwindi and on arrival you will sign in at the lodge and relax as you enjoy the views of the intact tropical rainforest. Dinner will be served later at twilight and you will relax overnight in the comfortable units at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer through Ishasha Sector to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up at sunrise and have breakfast as you enjoy the breathtaking sun rising over the oldest tropical rainforest on the African continent. Embark on the travel to the park headquarters where you will meet the Rangers of the National Park.
They will get you briefed about the guidelines of the gorilla trekking activity. Continue to the jungle amidst the guidance of the Rangers and meet the gentle giants in their natural habitat. The gorilla trek will take you approximately 5 to 6 hours.
Be sure to watch the gorillas as they interact in the jungle and take some beautiful pictures that will remind you of this exciting safari. After the trek, you will head to the lodge to get served lunch. Undertake the journey northwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park after lunch through Ishasha sector where you’ll have to immerse yourselves into the tree climbing lion experience until sunset.
The journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park will consume about 5 hours and 22 minutes covering the 146 kilometres. Enjoy watching the tree climbing lions and take pictures with them amidst the guidance of the tourist guides who will be providing information about the adaptability and other behaviours of the lions.
Continue to the lodging facility at twilight to get served dinner and be accommodated overnight.
Day 3: Early morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel
The guests will wake up at first light of the day and get served a delicious breakfast as prepared by the professionals at the lodging facility. Luxuriate in the morning hours as you feel the breeze of the serene environment at the lodge enjoying your mouth watering breakfast and after undertake the morning game drive.
On the game drive, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park and get your eyes set on why life species especially the lions, leopards, African buffaloes and African bush elephants. Several other wildlife species will be observed alongside the beautiful bird species.
Transfer to the lodging facility at around midday to get served the afternoon meals. After lunch, you will undertake the boat cruise at Kazinga channel. Cruise through the beautiful landscapes as you observe the wildlife species along the shores of the lakes George and Edward especially the hippopotami, buffaloes and beautiful birds especially the African fish Eagles, African paradise flycatchers, sunbirds, hammerkops, African darters, jacanas and lanner falcons.
Transfer back to the lodge at sunset to unwind from the day’s activities, have dinner and rest for the night
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge and transfer back to Entebbe
After breakfast at sun up, undertake a drive to the Kyambura gorge in the outskirts of Queen Elizabeth National Park. There, you will immerse yourselves fully into the chimpanzee tracking activities.
They start off with a briefing with the Park Rangers and after they accompany you to the forests to meet the exciting primates. The activity will take you about two to four hours and end at around midday. Embark on the transfer back to Entebbe that will take you approximately 7 hours and 6 minutes covering 373 kilometers.
An enroute lunch will be served in Mbarara after which you will continue to Entebbe. Arrival at the airport will be the end of the safari and you will get on board for the flights back home.
