Day 1
When you arrive in Kigali, you will be transferred to your hotel and check in, then after you go for a city tour.

Day 2: Drive to Akagera National Park (boat safari and drive in the afternoon)
Have breakfast at the hotel and later you’ll be driven east in your own 4WD through rolling hills and small farms with bananas and tropical fruit growing on the side of the road. It’s a beautiful drive, usually arriving at the Lodge after around three hours. Should you wish to stop, however – perhaps to take photos or to visit a village – just chat to your guide about the options. This is very much your trip. In the afternoon, take on a boat trip on Lake Ihema and a short evening game drive.

Day 3: Morning game drive and to Volcanoes National Park
Akagera national Park has seen transformation since the end of the 1994 genocide that left it in shambles. It has seen the glory of the park return after the reintroduction of lions in 2015, rhinos, and now the park has a big 5 status. We shall have a morning game drive at the park before we head northwest to Musanze. Where we shall visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of Dian Fossey before we retire.

Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking and to Lake Kivu (Kibuye)
Spend a morning trekking to find the golden monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park. These endangered monkeys are endemic to the Albertine Rift area and are characterised by their golden-orange fur. You’ll be able to enjoy an hour watching them jump through the bamboo and hunker down to chew bamboo leaves, curiously watching you, as you watch them.
Your driver-guide will operate your transfers to the park headquarters from the lodge and introduce you to your trekking group and parks guide. After, we have lunch and visit the gorilla guardians village before you drive to Kibuye on Lake Kivu for a night.

Day 5: To Nyungwe Forest after the Island tour
Today, we shall have a boat tour to the Napoleon Island. The island is a famous on and is known for its colony of fruit bats. The tour is about 2 hours before we return and head for Nyungwe Forest. The waters of Lake Kivu pave way for the forests of Nyungwe. It’s not a long drive – around three hours – but with the flexibility to choose where and when you stop, you can spend as long as you like taking photographs or just revelling in the scenery before arriving at the lodge in the afternoon.

Day 6: Canopy walk at nyungwe forest National park
Nyungwe Guided nature walks fee The Canopy walk in Rwanda is an exhilarating experience done in Rwanda’s Nyungwe National Park on a suspended bridge 70m high above the great Nyungwe forest.

Day 7: To Kigali via Nyanza
Today, we leave Nyungwe and drive to Kigali and on our way we shall stop at Nyanza and have a visit to the King’s Palace and Museum gives an interesting insight into Rwanda’s cultural history and monarchy. It’s also ideally placed to break up the long journey from Nyungwe Forest. The palace is an hour or two from Kigali, and we shall arrive in Kigali in the evening. Check in at our lodge and wait to head to the airport.
